illegal morings at Newbridge
Illegal moring at Newbridge.
The BAA committee is well aware of the problems members are encountering when trying to fish at Newbridge.
There has been dialogue between BAA and the canal and rivers trust with regards to this matter but unfortunately nothing came from those discussions to assist in resolving the problem.
However the administration representing the Duchy of Cornwall to Whom BAA pays to utilise the fishing rights has contacted the committee with a view to holding a meeting with other interested parties such as BANES and the rowing club. This will take place on the 11th of August
The outcome of the meeting will be published for our members to view.
Sunday 21st November River race
I’m the race coordinator for Canoe Avon, based at the Saltford Rowing Centre.
I’d like to inform you that we will be running a canoeing race on Sunday 21st November (the day after Avon Rowing have their race). The race will be using the section of the Avon between the Saltford Rowing Centre and New Bridge. We will be racing between 10:30am and 3pm.
We would request that you ask your members to minimise fishing activity on that day, or at least stay alert to kayaks on the river and ensure lines are not causing a hazard.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Regards,
Steve Askew

The last year has highlighted just how amazing our NHS is, but the RUH Bath still needs our help. RUH staff are there for us every day, no matter what and over the last year and half they have been working tirelessly every day to support patients, families, and each other throughout one of the most challenging times in the history. They have never stopped going the extra mile for us, and now it’s our turn. Every step you take will help make a difference to patient lives, when they need us most and continue to support our staff beyond the crisis. You’ll make it possible to fund lifesaving equipment and ground breaking research, as well as patient and staff wellbeing initiatives and the creation of calm and healing places that go beyond what standard NHS funding can provide.
