ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE BAA COMMITTEE NEWTON PARK – UPPER LAKE

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE BAA COMMITTEE

NEWTON PARK – UPPER LAKE

It has been brought to the attention of the committee by the administrators at Bath Spa College that fishing activities have been taking place at the UPPER lake.

BAA members do not have permission to fish this lake and any member fishing there will be deemed to be poaching and as such bringing the name of the Association into disrepute.

If apprehended, membership of the Association will cease immediately for the individual(s) pending a tribunal by the Association and the most likely outcome will be a life ban from the Association.

The administrators at the college will also be within their rights to pursue prosecution against any individual fishing the Upper Lake and security staff have been made aware of the situation and

will be vigilant in curtailing this illegality.

DAY TICKETS

DAY TICKETS

The committee discussed the need for dating day tickets and it was considered

only necessary to have the year on them.

This is much fairer to the member who has paid for a days fishing

but may lose it once a new month is entered.

Tickets will not be valid from one year to the next so 2019 tickets run out at the

end of 2019.

BAA committee.

Update on Withy Pool

The recent fish deaths of carp in Withy Pool have not yet
ceased entirely but have slowed significantly.
Although no deaths were seen for about a week,  two fish have died in the past few days
and it has been decided not to reopen just yet.
The situation will be monitored and once a reasonable amount of time without further
deaths ensues, the lake will be reopened.
As a matter of precaution, with a view to isolate any problems to one lake, members
must not swop lakes once they have commenced fishing.
It is imperative that the dip tanks are used to assist in controlling and preventing
the spread of any infections.
Your co-operation in this matter is greatly appreciated.

WITHY POOL

WITHY POOL
Withy Pool will remain closed for the foreseeable future (up to 9 days)
during which time it is hoped the cause of the carp infection can be ascertained and treated.
If this does not prove successful, the Environment Agency will be further involved to
ascertain the cause and hopefully bring the infection to an end.

Do you know someone who might like to try fishing at Hunstrete?

During May 2019, you may bring a single guest to fish.

When purchasing a day ticket, just buy an extra one for your guest.

Your guest should be in possession of a current rod licence which can be a temporary or annual licence.

Please ensure the guest either fishes with you on your peg or an adjacent one and if not in your peg the guest must be in possession of a correct landing net and mat and tackle for the fish that may be caught.

You must ensure that the guest adheres to all club rules and you will be held  responsible for the behaviour of a guest.

The guest must remain with you during the visit.

This is a trial run that may result in similar activities being available to members in the future.
