MINUTES OF THE JUNE MEETING
Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and proposed by J. Buckle seconded by S. Knee to be agreed as a true record
Boats are being moored on sections of the River Avon from Saltford to Newbridge. This matter will be brought to the attention of the Duchy of Cornwall representative.
Although some rectifications to a peg at Newton Park have been performed it is now being considered as unsafe and it may be removed from availability to fish from.
Reciprocal movement of silvers from Withy to Bridge still ongoing – 218lbs moved versus 300lbs of carp from Withy to Bridge.
Movement of relevant size carp from Withy to Main Lake will take place over a period of time and small carp captured during matches on Main Lake will be moved to Withy Pool.
Aerator on Withy Pool is working but still waiting for a new cut-out switch to be delivered.
Some TLC regarding mainly trees needed on the River Chew section. Boats moored at Newbridge and Saltford investigation is still ongoing.
Waters at Lydes Farm (The Players) to be discussed with owner when a meeting can be arranged.
The intended improvements to the steps at Newton Park will go ahead but no action at the moment.
Thanks given to S. Pitfield for £100 donation to CLIC Sargent from 24hr carp match . Also thanks received from CLIC for previous donation.
S.Pitfield has purchased two new weigh slings for 24hr matches .
Request to hold a match on Withy for the residents of Leonard Cheshire home at Timsbury, agreed.
Thanks given to all who attended Bridge Pool work party – lots of good work carried out.
BAA officials continues to challenge anyone not deemed to be a member onsite at Hunstrete. Passes are available for non-members for various reasons from the General Secretary.
Inspection of pegs designated for disabled users ongoing relating to safety issues,Some minor modificatons are likely.
Concern expressed regarding the strimming of Withy Pool because of rare orchids that are growing there.
Suggested that some sort of markers be put down to indicate where the orchids are growing.
More tab/day ticket checks at weekends and evenings to be instigated on an ad hoc basis and any members found without tickets will face disciplinary procedures.
Stated that Hunstrete and Newton Park are fishing really well
Stated Lydes Farm still has problem with weed and a work party to be arranged for September if possible.
Stated that the aerators at Hunstrete are running during the day from 11am until 3pm due to oxygen levels being a little low. They may be turned off later in week due to weather conditions becoming cooler.
Reported since the last committee meeting two really good sessions with the juniors completed and most can now fish very well without assistance.
Reported that Tony Allen (ex chairman of Bathampton AA) attended the last coaching session with his grandson and was very impressed with all the coaches and activities.
Stated that level 2 coaching course for M. Seymour is still ongoing.
Club rules to be revised for easier reading.
Confirmation to be obtained from BANES that planning applications regulations with regards to planning consent for the education centre have now been satisfied.
