OPEN MATCH RESULT HELD ON BRIDGE POOL 25TH JANUARY 2018

OPEN MATCH RESULT HELD ON BRIDGE POOL 25TH JANUARY 2018

The latest open match has been held on Bridge Pool. 20 anglers turned out today with a stiff breeze blowing conditions were difficult for all. Coming out on top this week was match organiser Chris Rolfe with a weight of 18lb-10oz from peg 15. Chris started the match fishing pole at 11metres catching small skimmers on maggot over ground bait but 2 hours into the match the skimmers switched off so Chris switched to straight lead using meat as bait. NOTICE TO BATHAMPTON A.A MEMBERS

NOTICE TO BATHAMPTON A.A MEMBERS

After discussion at the January 2018 committee meeting it was agreed that commencing from the 1st Saturday in April and then every first Saturday of the month until October, limited night fishing will be made available to members at The Dave Crookes Fishery at Hunstrete.

Per session, there will be 25 pegs available. 15 on Main Lake, 5 on Bridge Pool and 5 on Withy Pool at a cost of £30.

This fee will enable participants to fish from opening time on Saturday until closing time on Sunday.

The tickets for the first session in April will be sold at Hunstrete on a first come first served basis.

BAA wants to give all members a chance to participate in this new venture so to make things as fair as possible for all members wishing to participate once you have fished, inclusion in a subsequent session will depend on availability and demand.

There will be conditions imposed during the late evening and night to ensure a good standard of conduct is observed and rules are adhered to. Our neighbours should not be disturbed.

These proposed sessions will be run on a trial basis and depending on the outcome further opportunities may develop but this will depend on demand and on how the sessions run.

Please keep an eye on Face Book and the BAA website as details will be posted there.

Information regarding Box Brook

Dear Fly Fishers,
An update on the brook.
Memberships and season permits are available now for the 2018 trout season.
Membership £40 or £20 for 65’s+. Box Brook Season permit £35. Total being £75 or £55.
Apply to Adrian Wallace  53, Edgeworth Road, Kingsway, Bath.  BA2 2LT and please include stamped self addressed envelope for return.
Cheques payable to ‘ Bathampton AA’. Where m/ship has been purchased from a tackle shop write the m/ship card number on the back of the cheque.
Prize winners in the December ‘catch return’ draw for free 2018 permits were Derek Hull, Shane Spiers, and Nick Jeffrey.
Catch data and feedback on 2017 season is very sparse at the moment with 19 members responding from 42 possible.
Thanks go to the few volunteer stalwarts led by Nick Maggs who formed the main effort at the monthly maintenance sessions. It must be evident to all who fish the brook that so much potential improvement in the fishing and habitat lies under the extensive bankside overgrowth but for the want of a boost in volunteer numbers.
I will update 2017 catches later on if more info is reported.
A Happy New Year to all and tight lines,
