Walk of life event 13.5.17

The Walk of Life will be happening once again this year on Saturday 13th May 2017 and that the all-day route has been extended to a 26.2 mile walking marathon, starting from The Crown Inn (Bishops Cannings) and travelling along the Kennet & Avon canal via Bradford on Avon and into Bath.

In the end, the 2016 walk saw just over 300 walkers take part in the event to raise funds for the RUH Cancer Care Campaign and various other wards and departments at the Royal United Hospital. It raised an incredible £45,000 that will help transform care for our patients from all across Bath, Somerset and Wiltshire.

I do hope this doesn’t cause you too much inconvenience on the day. We are expecting to have a similar number of walkers participating this year and will do everything to ensure there is minimum disruption along the route.

If you know anyone who may be interested in signing up and joining us on this beautiful walk – it’s not too late!
I have attached the official event poster to this email and you can also visit our website for more information: http://www.foreverfriendsappeal.co.uk/events/walk-of-life

INFORMATION TO MEMBERS REGARDING THE DAVE CROOKES FISHERY AT HUNSTRETE.

INFORMATION TO MEMBERS REGARDING THE DAVE
CROOKES FISHERY AT HUNSTRETE.

The complex will close on Friday 20th January and re-open the following Thursday to allow for micro-chalking of all three lakes which is a proven method of combating unwanted silt and micro-organisms etc and does not harm fish in any way.

A netting of Main Lake will be performed to ascertain what stock levels of all fish are now present and also to reduce the biomass by removing small silver fish, which is a recommended way of reduction of stress to fish stocks.

To assist these operations, the water level on Main Lake will be reduced.

Due to the recent outbreak of KHV, restrictions are in place on any works carried out especially with regards to fish stocks and fish movement. As a result of this and by order of CEFAS, any stock no longer required has to be disposed of onsite.

As the complex is closed for health and safety reasons during the period stated, members are reminded no access is granted to the complex and cooperation in this matter is much appreciated.

Finally, on behalf of the Bathampton A.A. Management Committee, a big thank you to all of our members for their support and I wish you all a Prosperous New Year.

Dave Burnham

BAA General Secretary.
