OVER 55’S AND DISABLED SILVERS ONLY MATCH RESULT

THURSDAY 18TH AUGUST HELD ON BRIDGE POOL

18 competitors took part this week in the latest round of the over 55’s and disabled match series held on bridge pool. A dry day greeted anglers this week which made for a superb match with lots of fish being caught. Steve Dawson came out on top again this week with his second win in a row with a good weight of 31lb 00oz from peg 28. Second was Paul Barnfield only 3oz behind with 30lb 13oz from peg 31 and third was Dave Gillard with a weight of 25lb 10oz from peg 15. All fish were caught on a variety of baits soft pellet worm maggot and corn. Full result below.

MINUTES OF THE JUNE MEETING

Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and proposed by J. Buckle seconded by S. Knee to be agreed as a true record

Boats are being moored on sections of the River Avon from Saltford to Newbridge. This matter will be brought to the attention of the Duchy of Cornwall representative.

Although some rectifications to a peg at Newton Park have been performed it is now being considered as unsafe and it may be removed from availability to fish from.

Reciprocal movement of silvers from Withy to Bridge still ongoing – 218lbs moved versus 300lbs of carp from Withy to Bridge.

Movement of relevant size carp from Withy to Main Lake will take place over a period of time and small carp captured during matches on Main Lake will be moved to Withy Pool.

Aerator on Withy Pool is working but still waiting for a new cut-out switch to be delivered.

Some TLC regarding mainly trees needed on the River Chew section. Boats moored at Newbridge and Saltford investigation is still ongoing.

Waters at Lydes Farm (The Players) to be discussed with owner when a meeting can be arranged.

The intended improvements to the steps at Newton Park will go ahead but no action at the moment.

Thanks given to S. Pitfield for £100 donation to CLIC Sargent from 24hr carp match . Also thanks received from CLIC for previous donation.

S.Pitfield has purchased two new weigh slings for 24hr matches .

Request to hold a match on Withy for the residents of Leonard Cheshire home at Timsbury, agreed.

Thanks given to all who attended Bridge Pool work party – lots of good work carried out.

BAA officials continues to challenge anyone not deemed to be a member onsite at Hunstrete. Passes are available for non-members for various reasons from the General Secretary.

Inspection of pegs designated for disabled users ongoing relating to safety issues,Some minor modificatons are likely.

Concern expressed regarding the strimming of Withy Pool because of rare orchids that are growing there.

Suggested that some sort of markers be put down to indicate where the orchids are growing.

More tab/day ticket checks at weekends and evenings to be instigated on an ad hoc basis and any members found without tickets will face disciplinary procedures.

Stated that Hunstrete and Newton Park are fishing really well

Stated Lydes Farm still has problem with weed and a work party to be arranged for September if possible.

Stated that the aerators at Hunstrete are running during the day from 11am until 3pm due to oxygen levels being a little low. They may be turned off later in week due to weather conditions becoming cooler.

Reported since the last committee meeting two really good sessions with the juniors completed and most can now fish very well without assistance.

Reported that Tony Allen (ex chairman of Bathampton AA) attended the last coaching session with his grandson and was very impressed with all the coaches and activities.

Stated that level 2 coaching course for M. Seymour is still ongoing.

Club rules to be revised for easier reading.

Confirmation to be obtained from BANES that planning applications regulations with regards to planning consent for the education centre have now been satisfied.

Fishing Match Results

OVER 55’S AND DISABLED MATCH 4/8/16

The latest round of the over 55s and disabled series has taken place on Bridge Pool. Early morning rain greeted the competitors this week with skies clearing in the afternoon. This week’s match was a silvers only match with some very respectable weights. Coming out on top this week was Steve Dawson with a weight of 25lb 12oz. Steve drew peg 30 and caught most of his fish on soft pellet and maggot. Second and not too far behind was Chris Rolfe with 22lb 10oz from peg 32. Third was Rich Coles with 21lb 12oz from peg 6.

Baiting out of hours

Once again members are entering the complex late at night armed with buckets full of bait.

This week CCTV footage has shown two occasions where members are baiting out of hours!

Any member of Bathampton AA being caught will be struck from the clubs membership and will not be allowed to fish any of Bathampton Waters in the future.

MINUTES OF THE JUNE MEETING

Minutes of the June meeting were reviewed and proposed by M. Sheppard seconded by M. Seymour and agreed as a true record.

 BAA was contacted by the E.A regarding the Main Lake at Hunstrete being

designated as a high risk in accordance with the Reservoir Act. BAA does not

intend to contest this decision and dam inspections will proceed as normal by

relevant agencies. Next inspection is due to take place sometime in September or

October as in previous years.

Work party on Box brook completed and was visited by local juniors.

 Plenty of enquiries from potential new members.

 £100 donated to CLIC Sargent – raised from 24 hour carp match.

 Tree down near silt trap area of Newton Park Lake. Relevant procedures taking place to rectify.

 Work to improve steps accessing Newton Park to be instigated when BAA volunteers are ready.

 Thanks given to all who attended the work party at the weekend on the Main Lake at Hunstrete.

 Repair work to the road by Bridge Pool is envisaged to start the second or third week of July.

 New bailiffs Ids now ready. New Id cards to be issued at the end of the year to all club officials.

 Some loss of stock reported but nothing major – most likely caused by spawning and natural reasons.

 Water levels at Lydes Farm still well up due to plenty of rain but work parties will be needed to be scheduled.

 Movement of carp over 5lb from Bridge to Withy Pool will commence again using rod/pole methods only. Recipricol weight of silvers to return from Withy to

Bridge. Only club officials may move fish.

 Aerator part to be purchased – Withy Pool affected.

 Good results/weights in last 24 hour carp match.

 River Chew in need of some bank work and some trees in river.

 M Seymour to train as level 2 angling coach.

 Piling work to be completed soon for Education Centre.

The latest round in the over 55 and disabled series has taken place on Bridge Pool. 14 competitors took part this week with Paul Barnfield coming out on top from peg 30 with a good weight of 29lb 15oz Paul caught on a variety of baits but the bigger fish came on soft pellet and caster. Second was Steve Dawson not far behind with 29lb 04oz from peg 15. And third was Chris Rolfe with 26lb 12oz from peg 16.

CCTV catches out of hours fishing

If you are caught fishing on Bathampton AA waters out of hours your membership will be taken away and you will not be allowed to re-join BAA, Once again persons unknown have been night fishing at Hunstrete.

A vehicle was seen on CCTV but only showing last letters of number plate, bailiffs are aware and if the vehicle is seen at the complex they will be dealing with the members.
